Storms Destroy 40 Homes in 2 Counties
The Alabama county commission offices in Limestone and Madison counties have proclaimed a state of emergency in both counties due to Friday’s storms that spawned and apparent tornado.
The Alabama Emergency Management Agency has released damage assessments for storms in the two counties Friday.
EMA officials said the storms which produced an apparent tornado destroyed 15 homes in Limestone County and 25 homes in Madison County. EMA officials said 50 homes suffered major damage in Limestone County and 50 had major damage in Madison County.
A shelter has been opened in Madison County at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
