South Carolina Restaurant Denies Wreck Responsibility
The owner of a Charleston, S.C., restaurant denies it’s responsible for a manager charged with causing a wreck that killed a man in December.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the owner of Husk restaurant has asked that the lawsuit against it be thrown out of court.
The family of 32-year-old Quentin Miller sued The Neighborhood Dining Group Inc., saying it allowed assistant manager Adam Joseph Burnell of Mount Pleasant to drink after the restaurant closed and then drive away.
Burnell’s car ran into the rear of Miller’s car Dec. 17 on the Ravenel Bridge linking Charleston and Mount Pleasant. Miller’s car was knocked into a concrete barrier and exploded in flames.
The company’s response to the lawsuit says it was only responsible for Burnell when he was working.
