Georgia Blaze Damages 14 Homes in Subdivision
A fire in a Henry County, Ga., subdivision has damaged 14 homes, destroying seven of them.
WSB-TV reports that the blaze Saturday started in one home of the Flippen Woods subdivision in Stockbridge and quickly spread to more than a dozen others.
Henry County Fire Chief Bill Lacy said firefighters arrived at the scene four minutes after getting the emergency call. By the time they arrived, flames were shooting from the attics of four houses.
Lacy said the 105-degree heat dried out the homes, allowing the fire to spread quickly. He also said firefighters became fatigued in the sweltering heat. No serious injuries were reported.
