More Than $5M Approved for Tropical Storm Debby Victims
Federal disaster officials say some $5.3 million in state and federal aid has been approved to help Floridians affected by wind and flooding from Tropical Storm Debby.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency reported Tuesday that 3,500 Florida residents have requested help or information regarding disaster assistance. Some of those asking for housing assistance from FEMA were forced out of their homes by the flooding from the large amount of rain Debby dumped on parts of Florida in late June.
FEMA reported 932 households were approved for federal grants to help with temporary rentals and personal property loss as of Monday. The agency has completed 1,715 home inspections.
Other forms of disaster assistance are available through the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Small Business Administration.
