Tennessee Marina Fire Loss Exceeds $1M
An early-morning fire destroyed much of a Norris Lake, Tenn., marina and burned nearly 60 boats.
Campbell County Rural Fire Service Chief Andrew Carroll told WBIR-TV the fire appears to have started accidentally. The owner of the Springs Dock Marina in LaFollette told investigators a boat charger might have malfunctioned.
The marina has 170 slips. Costello said about 60 boats burned, along with part of the dock. The water craft lost included fishing boats, pontoon boats and ski boats. Costello estimated the values at $20,000-$30,000 each.
Chief Andrew Carroll of the Campbell County Rural Fire Service said surveillance cameras showed no one was on the dock and believes a boat battery started the fire.
