Police Recover Equipment Stolen From Kentucky City
Police say they have recovered thousands of dollars worth of equipment that had been stolen from a southeastern Kentucky city.
Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird told WYMT-TV that two people are suspected of selling the valves and pipes from an old water intake system to a scrap yard where they made $1,500.
Bird says the items were big and heavy, and the place where they were taken is remote, so the suspects “worked very hard to get the items they took.”
No charges have been filed, but Bird says he is meeting with the county prosecutor to discuss taking the case to a grand jury.
Water plant supervisor Steve Reeves says it would be difficult to use the parts again. He said water service wasn’t affected.
