West Virginia Contractor Cited for Safety Violations
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is citing a West Virginia company for safety violations at a Tridelphia work site.
Officials said Monday they cited Mt. Lookout-based Roger Shortridge Construction for one willful and two serious violations at the site. The proposed penalties total $47,400.
The agency says it initiated an investigation in March after a compliance officer observed hazards while conducting an inspection of another contractor.
Officials say the willful violation is failing to ensure that employees used fall protection when working on a steep roof. The serious violations involved failing to initiate and maintain a safety and health program, as well as to ensuring the use of eye protection.
Roger Shortridge Construction has 15 days to respond and the company’s owner says he’s meeting with the agency.
