Atlanta Bridge Reopened After Damaged by Fire
Part of a bridge in downtown Atlanta, Ga., has been reopened after a fire damaged the structure and sent chunks of concrete raining down to the street below.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the bridge was reopened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, just in time for the afternoon rush hour.
The decision comes after authorities initially said the bridge would be closed indefinitely pending full inspection.
The blaze broke out Tuesday in a homeless camp near the Martin Luther King Jr. bridge. The fire was so hot that it heated up the concrete and caused large pieces to fall.
