Answers Sought for Dangerous Intersection in Mississippi
A fourth fatality in less than a year at a busy Prentiss County, Miss., intersection has prompted supervisors to ask the Mississippi Department of Transportation for a traffic review.
The Daily Corinthian reports that the board of supervisors wants MDOT to recommend what additional safety features could be placed at the intersection of the Mississippi Highway 30 bypass and Meadow Creek Road (County Road 5031).
Two people died injuries suffered at the intersection this past week. Two were killed and six injured in May since the bypass opened last fall.
Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Derrick Pruitt says in addition to the two fatal crashes there have been numerous less serious accidents there since the bypass opened. He says it’s one of the most accident-prone spots in the county.
