City’s Beach Safety Truck Runs Over Florida Sunbather
A sunbather had to be hospitalized after a beach safety truck ran over him on a South Florida beach.
The 55-year-old man was lying near a dune on a Hollywood beach when he was run over Tuesday afternoon. Authorities say a supervisor with the city’s beach safety division checking on lifeguards and swimmers didn’t see the sunbather as he started to pull away his truck the dune. Passers-by flagged down the driver, who rushed to the sunbather’s aid.
The sunbather was not identified. Authorities say he was taken to a hospital with scrapes, bruises and burns from the truck’s exhaust system. Police say the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.
