State Fire Marshal Probes Georgia Church Fire
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating a blaze that gutted a church sanctuary in south Macon, Ga.
The Telegraph reports that flames tore through the roof of the Reaching Souls Cathedral of Praise Apostolic Church early Monday morning. Macon-Bibb County firefighters were dispatched to the church around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Macon-Bibb fire investigator Sgt. Ben Gleaton says the building was gutted and its side brick wall was in danger of collapse.
Gleaton said the flames spread to an adjacent social hall that is connected by a common hallway. A church bus parked between the buildings was also charred along the roof.
There were no reports of injuries in the fire.
