Kentucky Woman Uses Gatorade to Put Out Fire at Crash
A Louisville, Ky., wrestling coach and his two sons were saved from a fiery crash when someone dumped Gatorade on the blaze after their SUV wrecked along Interstate 64 near Frankfort.
The crash happened early Sunday morning as Fern Creek High School coach Jeff Branch lost control of his vehicle while driving back from the middle school championships in Mount Sterling. Police say Branch struck two tractor-trailers and caught on fire.
Head wrestling coach Mark Hitchings told WAVE-TV in Louisville a person following them from the tournament stopped and used the sports drink to douse the fire when there wasn’t enough snow.
Hitching says Branch suffered a broken nose and other internal injuries. His two sons, Jared and Derrick, were treated and released.
Police say the wreck remains under investigation.
