West Virgina Town to Demolish 9 Flood-Prone Homes
Nine flood-prone homes in Weirton, W.Va., will be demolished within the next six months.
The homes are located along Willow Street. Mayor George Kondik tells WTOV-TV that flooding in the area has worsened in recent years.
The owners of a dozen homes were offered buyouts. One owner rejected the buyout offer. Families are still living in two of the homes.
State and federal money funded the buyout program.
