North Carolina Warehouse Fire Causes Millions in Damage
Officials say a warehouse fire in Gastonia, N.C., caused at least $4 million in damage.
Firefighters were continuing to spray hot spots Sunday at the old National Textiles mill.
No one was hurt in the fire.
Assistant Fire Chief Billy Glover said the fire was the worst in his 26 years with the department.
The fire started around 8 a.m. Saturday. Fire Chief Phil Welch said an electrical transformer may have exploded at the back of the warehouse, igniting paper, light metal and filters.
Gastonia police and the fire marshal hope to make progress on the investigation soon. Glover says investigators have not been able to examine the building closely because of the heat and damage.
