$350K Lawsuit Decision Upheld by Mississippi Appeals Court
The state Court of Appeals has upheld a $350,000 verdict against Harrison Banks stemming from a fight outside an Oxford bar in 2009.
Banks was acquitted of simple assault in municipal court.
A jury found in a 2011 civil suit that Banks had to pay $350,000 in damages to Brandon Lockhart of Oxford.
Circuit Judge Andrew Howorth denied a motion for a new trial in 2012.
According to court records, Lockhart alleged on July 17, 2009, Banks punched him in the face multiple times in an alleyway in Oxford. Lockhart said he suffered serious injuries to his right eye and face that caused him to incur medical expenses and loss of wages.
The Appeals Court on Tuesday rejected Banks’ arguments that the evidence did not prove he was the assailant.
