Kentucky Family Says Lack of Curb Ramps Caused Dad’s Death
A northern Kentucky family is suing the city of Fort Thomas, claiming a lack of curb ramps resulted in a man being hit by a car while riding a motorized scooter and being killed.
The family of 67-year-old William Culbertson Jr., is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages from the city.
Family attorney Don Nageleisen told The Kentucky Enquirer the city failed to provide ramps for people who need to use wheelchairs or scooters to access the sidewalks. Nageleisen says the lack of ramps forces people to use the main streets.
Culbertson was killed June 23, 2012 after being struck by a car. His family has filed suit in federal court in Covington.
Fort Thomas’s city solicitor couldn’t be reached for comment.
