2 Men Formally Indicted After North Carolina State Fair Ride Accident
Two men have been formally indicted on felony charges following a thrill-ride mishap at the North Carolina State Fair that left three people seriously injured.
News media outlets reported Tuesday that Timothy Dwayne Tutterrow and Joshua Gene Macaroni, both of Quitman, Ga., were indicted Tuesday on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury.
Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby didn’t return a telephone call seeking comment.
The two were arrested and charged after the Vortex ride suddenly lurched into motion as riders were trying to exit on Oct. 24. Investigators say the ride’s key safety equipment was tampered with.
Tutterrow was operating the ride. Macaroni wasn’t present, but his family business owns the machine. Both men are free on bond awaiting trial.
