Alabama Governor’s Home Sustains $50K in Freeze Damage
The freezing weather really hit home with Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley.
Bentley said Wednesday that his private home in Tuscaloosa has an estimated $50,000 in damage after a water pipe froze and burst in the attic.
Bentley says the water damaged ceilings, walls, carpets and hardwood floors, all of which have to be replaced.
But Bentley said he’s got good homeowner’s insurance, so he and first lady Dianne Bentley are looking at their misfortune as a chance to update the house. Bentley says that needed to be done anyway.
Bentley is a retired dermatologist who practiced medicine for years in Tuscaloosa before being elected governor.
Bentley says his wife is at the house dealing with the mess while he continues working in Montgomery.
