South Carolina Crash Victim’s Wife Gets $25K Insurance Settlement
The wife of a Parris Island, S.C., Marine killed when his motorcycle collided with another Marine’s pickup truck will receive a $25,000 settlement following the fatal crash.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports court records show the insurance settlement over the death of 23-year-old Cameron Branum in December 2012. Branum and his wife Timi were expecting their third child at the time.
Branum was a company clerk at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah Wimberly said 24-year-old Marine Tyshan Bentley was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road after the crash. Bentley was driving along a Beaufort County road when he ran off the shoulder, overcorrected and veered into oncoming traffic.
Bentley also is stationed at Parris Island.
