South Carolina Senior Living Community Accused of Negligence
Relatives of four current and former residents of a home for seniors in Florence, S.C., say the staff neglected and mistreated their family members.
The Morning News of Florence reports an attorney has filed four lawsuits involving residents’ treatment at Laurel Gardens Senior Living Community.
The lawsuits were filed recently against the community, executive director Alicia Owens and other businesses, including Emeritus Corp., which owns Laurel Gardens.
Emeritus regional director of operations Kristi Anthony says the company takes the claims seriously and will respond when officials have reviewed the lawsuits. The lawsuits allege gross and corporate negligence, among other charges.
One plaintiff says her mother didn’t receive appropriate medication as ordered and suffered numerous falls and injuries due to negligence.
Attorney Robert F. Lee filed the lawsuits.
