Former North Carolina Woman Extradited From Florida on Insurance Fraud Charges
Stacy Lasondo Jackson was arrested and charged with ten counts each of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, according to an announcement by North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin.
Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that between January and May 2013, while living in Fayetteville, N.C., Jackson obtained several thousand dollars from multiple insurance companies by filing fraudulent insurance claims for damage to her automobile and motorcycle. Investigators allege that, in many instances, the same vehicle damage was reported more than once or did not actually occur.
Jackson was arrested on similar charges in Florida on Dec. 20, 2013. With the assistance of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Insurance Fraud, she was extradited to Cumberland County, N.C., on Feb. 25, where she was arrested by N.C. Department of Insurance criminal investigators and placed under a $10,000 bond.
