North Carolina University to Install New Dorm Windows After Death
Officials at the University of North Carolina Charlotte say they will be putting new windows in a dorm where a student fell to his death earlier this week.
The Charlotte Observer reported that a school spokesman said changing the windows is part of previously scheduled improvements at Moore Hall and three other dorms.
The school said the improvements are planned over the next four years at the dorms, which are more than 40 years old.
Eighteen-year-old Joshua Robert Helm of Hillsborough died Sunday morning after he fell from the seventh floor of the nine-story building.
Police and school officials said Helm fell from the ledge outside his window, which can be fully opened.
School spokesman John Bland says officials have not decided whether the new windows will open fully.
