Mississippi Officials Warn of Dangerous Dog Pack
Natchez Trace officials are recommending that cyclists, horseback riders and pedestrians use other sections of the Mississippi parkway after a cyclist was chased and bitten by a group of dogs along the southern edge of the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
People are warned to avoid the area around milepost 113 – near the reservoir overlook – after the 64-year-old cyclist was attacked Monday as he was riding along the reservoir. Officials said eight dogs chased him and bit his legs multiple times.
Natchez Trace Parkway Chief Ranger Sarah Davis tells The Clarion-Ledger the man, who has not been identified by authorities, was treated and released the day of the attack.
