Former Alabama Doctor Loses Appeal to get License Back

A former Jefferson County, Ala., physician has lost his appeal to get his medical license back.

The state Medical Licensure Commission revoked Dr. John Anderson King’s license in 2008 after reviewing negligence complaints involving two patients he treated at a clinic in Irondale. He sought reinstatement in 2010 and 2013, and both times the commission refused. He appealed to the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, which affirmed the commission’s decision 5-0 Friday.

King said he had completed more than 300 hours of continuing education classes, but the commission said he offered no documentation.

King was a doctor of osteopathy who practiced under the name Christopher Martin at one point in his career. He practiced in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after leaving Alabama, but lost his Tennessee license in 2010 because of Alabama problems.
