Man Sues Mississippi Sheriff for Ruining his Marriage
A Lamar County, Miss., man has filed an alienation of affection lawsuit against Forrest County Sheriff Billy McGee.
The Hattiesburg American reports that the civil suit was filed Thursday in the Forrest County Circuit Clerk’s office by David “Mickey” Lyon, 42, of Hattiesburg.
The suit alleges McGee interfered in the marriage between Lyon and his ex-wife Emma Lyon.
The lawsuit seeks $1 million in actual damages and $4 million in punitive damages, along with attorney fees.
McGee denies stealing Lyons’ wife. He says he hasn’t seen the lawsuit, but will hire a lawyer and let the courts decide the matter.
Jay Jernigan, Mickey Lyon’s attorney, says his client learned of an affair between McGee and his wife last fall and since that time the couple has divorced.
