4 Dead, 4 Hurt in 11-Vehicle Wreck in Mississippi
Officials say says four people were killed and four injured when a tractor-trailer plowed into traffic stopped on the interstate in coastal Mississippi.
Lt. Johnny Poulos of the state Highway Patrol says no charges have been made in the 11-vehicle wreck.
The wreck happened about 12:11 a.m. Saturday. A pickup and its trailer overturned, spilling used computer equipment across Interstate 10. Eastbound traffic stopped. Poulos said four big rigs and six passenger cars were involved, some too badly damaged to immediately tell make and model.
Poulos said traffic tie-ups extended across the state line into Louisiana after police began detouring traffic.
Poulos says the four dead won’t be identified until families are notified. He also says the injuries of the other four victims weren’t life-threatening.
