South Carolina Leads Nation in Child Swimming Pool Deaths
It’s been a deadly summer in swimming pools in South Carolina.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the number of children who drowned in pools and spas in the state during July was the highest per capita in the nation.
The commission says that five children drowned in the state. That amounts to about 4.6 drownings per million children.
Florida and Texas tied for the highest total number of children who drowned in pools and spas in July at eight each.
So far for a year as a whole, eight children have drowned in pools and spas in South Carolina.
