IMCO’s McFadden Passes Away
James “Jim” Caldwell McFadden, an insurance industry veteran, died Tuesday, Aug. 26 in his sleep. Survivors include his son, James C. McFadden Jr., and daughter Nicole McFadden of Half Moon Bay, Calif. His loyal companion Buddy, a Boston terrier, also survives him.
McFadden began his insurance career in 1969 as a commercial casualty underwriter for Hartford Insurance Company in Boston. He also held this position for Hanover Insurance Company and Yosemite Insurance Company, both in San Francisco. From 1977-1985, he served as vice president and branch manager at American National General Agency, where he had binding authority for many markets including trucking markets (Compass, Transit Casualty, Guarantee National, etc.). From 1985-1993, he served as vice president and branch manager for Rathbone, King, and Seeley, based in Portland, OR. From 1993-1996, he owned Caldwell Insurance, also in Portland. McFadden was currently serving as underwriting manager with Insurance Marketing Corporation of Oregon “IMCO” in Tualatin, Ore. In this capacity, he had binding facilities with several trucking markets.
McFadden was born on March 28, 1943 in Worchester, Mass. He spent two years in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. He received an Associate Arts Degree from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, Mass. in 1967, and in 1969, graduated from Suffolk University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, and minors in history and English.
McFadden’s interests included the outdoors and fly-fishing the rivers of Oregon with his friends. He also loved spending time with and training little Buddy. He will be greatly missed by his family, his family of co-workers, and all who knew him.
