Calif.-based Med-Mal Agency Changes Name

Laguna Hills, Calif.-based The Doctors Insurance Agency representing The Doctors Company (TDC), the nation’s largest doctor-owned professional liability insurance company, has announced the changing of its name from The Doctors Insurance Agency to RGI Insurance Services Inc. RGI Insurance Services is one of California’s largest medical industry specialists serving over 4,000 medical industry clients in Southern California.

RGI executive vice president and general manager J. Michael Rosenthal said, “TDC is an outstanding medical malpractice insurer and we are proud to offer their protection and advocacy, however our clients also require other products and services. The change to RGI Insurance Services should eliminate confusion between the services of The Doctors Company and our agency. When we offer malpractice insurance it will be a TDC product but we offer much more than medical malpractice protection.”

Rosenthal added, “As difficult as it is to change our name, we believe it will help our clients better understand who we are and what we offer. We remain uniquely focused on serving the clinical sector of the industry. Such accounts generally require an agency that can guide them through the intricacies of all their insurance needs — both on the medical and the business facets of their operations. It is our goal to become the total insurance resource for our clients, allowing them to concentrate on their business/practice — not insurance.”
