Insurers Allowed to Expand Use of Adjusters in Response to Nev. Waterfall Fire
Due to the unprecedented destruction caused by the Waterfall Fire in Carson City, Nevada, recently, Commissioner of Insurance Alice Molasky-Arman has given temporary approval for nonresident
adjusters to adjust claims in the Carson City area for damage caused by the fires.
This will reportedly assist insurance companies in expediting claims and assessing the amount of damages caused by the fire. Under ordinary circumstances, only resident adjusters are permitted to handle claims. Nevada law, however, allows the commissioner to make exceptions during catastrophes.
In addition, her agency has contacted major insurers in the area to make certain enough adjusting teams are available, which will increase the speed of benefit payments for property damage.
“We are available to assist consumers with questions about their insurance policies, or who need assistance dealing with their insurance company,” Molasky-Arman said.
Consumers who have experienced property damage should first contact their agent or their insurance company claims office to get instructions on how to file a claim.
