Calif. Gov. Schwarzenegger Puts Pen to Paper for Disaster-Related Bills
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a number of bills in the last few days, including those of interest to Californians impacted by last year’s wildfires and other disaster which have hit the state in the last year.
Among the bills signed into law was SB1147 (Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth, R-La Mesa) which permits owners whose homes were totaled by last fall’s wildfires to retain their homeowners property tax exemptions.
The Governor also signed AB1510 (Assemblywoman Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego) which makes it necessary for the state to reimburse local governments for their costs and property tax losses resulting from the wildfires, along with the central coast earthquake from last year.
Finally, Gov. Schwarzenegger signed AB2165 (Assemblyman Guy Houston, R-San Ramon), requiring California to reimburse local governments for their costs related to June’s Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta levee break.
