Navicom GPS Inks Demo Deal with So. Cal Fire Dept.
NowAuto Inc. announced that wholly owned subsidiary Navicom GPS has entered into a demo agreement with a Southern California Fire Department to test the abilities of the microburst unit.
The test will be limited to a 45-day trial. The unit will not be utilized to displace the department’s current AVL solution. It will be in addition to and will act strictly as a countermeasure for theft, terrorism, and location.
“Most fire department vehicles do not have traditional keys to start the
vehicle; because of this and the proximity to the general public, theft is a vital concern. Vehicles like this can access restricted areas of cities, airports, large buildings etc. Recovering a vehicle that has priority access is extremely important when the theft could be used for devastating purposes.” said Keith Tench, president of Navicom.
The new product reportedly has the ability to track assets in 98% of Canada, Mexico and the United States. The units will also be able to perform a multitude of functions such as complex tracking and reporting solutions, Geofencing, speed alert notification, panic alarm, starter disable and door lock/unlock capability.
