Online Service Launched to Manage Weather Risk
Recent survivors of the nation’s recent wind and ice storms know weather can affect companies’ bottom lines. Keeping that in mind, several former Google employees have developed an online platform, WeatherBill, that allows companies to purchase coverage for adverse weather conditions. The site also includes information designed to help businesses understand how weather affects their financial performance.
According to the company owners, the system makes “critical analytical tools and services available to all businesses, allowing them to quickly and easily correlate weather conditions with corresponding financial performance,” whereas previously such information typically was available only to large businesses.
For information, visit www.weatherbill.com. The San Francisco-based company is founded by David Friedberg and several other former members of the Google Team. The company is funded by New Enterprises Associates and Index Ventures.
