Calif. State Fund Appoints New Interim President
The California State Compensation Insurance Fund’s Board of Directors announced they have appointed Lawrence E. Mulryan interim president. Mulryan will oversee State Fund operations while the Board conducts a national search for a new president.
While Insurance Journal was unable to reach State Fund by press time, the Los Angeles Times is reporting that former president Jim Tudor and former vice president in charge of group insurance programs Renee Koren were fired.
“Lawrence has more than 30 years of experience within the industry’s legal and regulatory arenas and is widely considered one of California’s premier insurance experts,” said Board Chair Jeanne Cain. “State Fund will benefit tremendously from his leadership, knowledge and integrity.”
SCIF said Mulryan has served as an executive consultant within the insurance community since 2006. From 1992 to 2006, he was executive director of the California Insurance Guarantee Association. Prior to that, Mulryan worked in the insurance industry as legal counsel and senior executive, which included trade association representation, drafting legislation and managing and lobbying on legislative matters. Additionally, Mulryan spent over 20 years on the San Rafael City Council, serving three terms as mayor.
