Bozeman Man Pleads Guilty to Insurance Fraud
A Bozema, Mont., man has pleaded guilty to six counts of felony insurance fraud. Mark Boone entered the pleas in Gallatin County District Court in Bozeman.
The state Auditor’s Office alleged that Boone pawned his cement tools, reported them to police as stolen, then filed fraudulent insurance claims.
State Auditor John Morrison said Boone repeated the scam six times, ultimately defrauding Zurich American Insurance Co. out of $20,738.
The case was investigated and prosecuted by the auditor’s office.
Boone will be sentenced Oct. 6 and faces up to 10 years in prison and up to $50,000 in fines for each count.
