Hawaii Could Expand Insurance Fraud Unit
The Hawaii legislature is closer to passing a bill to expand the jurisdiction of the state’s insurance fraud unit, according to the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud. HB 262 unanimously cleared the Senate, and was sent back to the House for concurrence, where it just passed in the Conference Committee.
HB 262 would expand the unit’s jurisdiction to all lines of insurance except for workers comp. Current law restricts the unit to automobile insurance fraud.
