Lawsuit Alleges Malpractice in Utah Fatal Shooting
A medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the sons of a man who fatally shot his wife in a Salt Lake City, Utah, church parking lot in 2008.
The lawsuit filed Monday in 3rd District Court contends that a nurse practitioner and a doctor prescribed, but failed to adequately monitor, a range of mood-altering drugs that were toxic to David Ragsdale.
Ragsdale shot Kristy Ragsdale 13 times on Jan. 6, 2008. He later pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and was sentenced to prison.
The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and unspecified damages to compensate the couple’s two children.
Nurse practitioner Trina West, physician Hugo Rodier and the Pioneer Comprehensive Medical Clinic in Draper are named as defendants in the lawsuit.
A message left for the clinic’s attorney was not immediately returned.
