Federal Grant Funds Mine Safety Training in New Mexico
The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro will receive $147,305 to promote miner safety and health training programs after securing a federal grant.
New Mexico Tech will coordinate programs for miners and contract workers throughout the state.
Among the courses offered: an annual refresher course, new miner training, mine rescue training, first aid training and cooperative instructor training and certification.
Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., announced the New Mexico Tech grant.
