Colorado Fire Losses Up To $8.3 Million
The Fourmile Canyon fire burning in Colorado, has now creeped to within five miles of Boulder, officials report. Dubbed the “most destructive wildfire in Colorado history,” the fire has destroyed 172 structures and incurred $8.3 million in claims, and numberous residences continue to be threatened, according to the National Interagency Coordination Center.
Carole Walker, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association said it was too early to predict total insured losses, but noted residents forced out of their homes on mandatory evacuation orders would be eligible for additional living expenses coverage.
At press time, the fire was 87 percent contained.
