A San Diego woman who falsely claiming disaster relief funds after Hurricane Katrina has been sentenced to more than 27 months in federal prison.

City News Service says Cynthia D. Magee also was ordered to pay $20,572 in restitution. She pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Prosecutors say that Magee submitted a disaster relief claim to the government after the 2005 hurricane, falsely stating that her primary home was in New Orleans. She received more than $14,000.

Authorities say Magee obtained another $5,000 in disaster-relief debit cards from the Red Cross.
