Insurance Problem Disrupts Oregon Charter School

April 14, 2011

After staying home Monday and Tuesday, students at Trillium Charter School in Portland are returning to class.

The Oregonian reports the K-12 school with 360 students had to cancel two days this week because insurers dropped property, liability and workers’ compensation coverage in a dispute over payments.

The executive director, Genevieve Bouwes, says the school reached a deal with the insurance carriers to keep the school covered through June.

The students will make up the missed days at the end of the school year.
