Inmate Victimized by Prison Guard Sues Hawaii
The victim of sexual assault by a former Oahu prison guard is suing the correction officer and the state of Hawaii.
Hawaii News Now reported Wednesday the lawsuit claims the state was negligent in hiring, training and supervising Ryan Malasig, who was sentenced last week to 18 months after pleading no contest to second-degree sexual assault. Prosecutors say Malasig forced the male inmate to perform sex acts in Oahu Community Correctional Center two years ago.
