Homes Damaged by Flooding Following Fire in Ariz.
Flooding and flowing mud and debris have damaged homes in an area south of Sierra Vista that had been hit by a major fire in recent weeks.
Cochise County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Carol Capas says the flooding Sunday in Miller Canyon and in the Circle S Ranch Estates areas came after two inches of rain fell in a short period.
Deputies found boulders and debris covering roadways in both Miller and Carr canyons. A propane tank that broke loose punched through the side of a home.
She says several homes in an area where the massive Monument Fire incinerated ground cover were damaged by mud and water.
She said Monday that the number of damaged homes was still being tallied.
