1 Dead, 1 Injured in Hawaii Big Island Zip Line Incident
One person is dead and another injured in a zip line accident north of Hilo.
Hawaii Police Department spokeswoman Chris Loos says the victim died while riding the zip line and the other man was injured when the zip line tower fell Wednesday morning.
The Hawaii County Fire Department says the call came at about 9:40 a.m.
Police say the victim was from Maui and the injured man is from Ohio. Police say they were doing work at KapohoKine Adventures in Paukaa after the company received complaints the zip line was too slow.
KITV reports the attraction had been open for one week.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the Maui man was halfway through a test run when the tower fell.
KapohoKine Adventures in Paukaa declined to comment.
