Chunk of Colorado Theater Ceiling Falls, No One Hurt
The 84-year-old Oriental Theater in Denver is closed indefinitely after a chunk of the ceiling fell onto the stage, just after a band had finished playing.
Theater manager and former owner Scott LaBarbera says no one was hurt after a roughly 10-by-20 foot piece of plaster fell from the ceiling late Friday, exposing some internal rafters.
He says it could be a few weeks before the theater reopens. Contractors and engineers were checking the space Saturday.
The Denver Post reports that an engineer had inspected the ceiling area Tuesday as part of LaBarbera’s plans to buy the theater back and had given the all clear.
