Suspected California ‘Office Creeper’ Burglar Arrested
Los Angeles police have arrested a suspect believed to have entered downtown office buildings posing as a security guard to steal laptop computers and other items.
Police say they arrested 57-year-old Otis Anthony Deaver about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at a downtown bank building.
Deaver is suspected in multiple office burglaries that have occurred over the past two months.
Police dubbed the burglar the “office creeper” because he donned a black security guard’s jacket so he could creep about offices unchallenged during regular working hours, looking for unattended belongings.
Lt. Paul Vernon described Deaver as a “career burglar who likes to steal laptops right off of desks.”
Police released a surveillance videotape of the “office creeper.”
