Skydiver Injured Trying to Land in Montana Stadium
Authorities say a skydiver attempting to land in Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula, Mont., as part of planned festivities before a college football game, suffered serious injuries Saturday after he was blown off target and hit a tree and then fell to a cement sidewalk just outside the stadium.
The Missoulian reports that Blaine Wright of Silvertip Skydivers has been flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Wash., with injuries that include a fractured pelvis.
Witnesses tell the newspaper that Wright was knocked unconscious but was talking with paramedics before being immobilized on a backboard and put in an ambulance.
Paramedics also checked a girl who was knocked over by Wright but who didn’t need to be taken to a hospital.
The game was played as scheduled with Montana defeating Weber State 45-10.
