Hawaii Fire Destroys State Park Cabin
A fire destroyed one cabin and damaged another at Kokee State Park on Kauai, causing $150,000 in damages.
The Kauai County Fire Department said Monday both cabins were unoccupied and no one was injured.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze that burned from late Sunday to early Monday morning on Makaha Ridge Road. No other structures were threatened.
Police dispatchers received a call about the fire at about 9:43 p.m. Sunday. The caller said flames had fully engulfed the cabin.
Fire crews found another cabin was ablaze once they arrived on the scene. The fire in the second cabin was contained to the living room.
The flames were fully extinguished at 1:14 am. Monday.
