Montana Says Workplace Injuries Decline
The state is reporting that workplace injuries and illnesses declined last year in Montana.
An annual survey from the Department of Labor and Industry found 5.0 injuries and illnesses per hundred full time workers in 2010. That is down from 5.3 in 2009.
But the rate in Montana was still far above the national average.
Labor Commissioner Keith Kelly says more still need to be done to reinforce safety as part of Montana’s work culture.
Manufacturing reported the highest injury and illness rate. The finance and insurance industry sector reported the lowest.
