California Man Electrocuted by Fallen Power Line
A Southern California man has been electrocuted by a power line that fell on him outside his home.
The Los Angeles Times says 24-old Joel Ramirez died Saturday night.
The San Gabriel Valley Union-Tribune says the man was inside his Whittier home when the line fell, possibly because of the weather, and set fire to his roof.
The man ran outside to douse the fire and the line fell on him and pinned him to the ground.
Sgt. Brent Anderson says the man began to catch fire and an arriving police officer sprayed him with a fire extinguisher.
Ramirez died at a hospital.
Anderson says a 46-year woman who tried to help him also was shocked and thrown across the alley but her injuries are not life-threatening.
